This Weekend in College Football: Week 16

As usual, all times Eastern and all predictions wrong.

Friday

9:00: Stephen F. AustinMontana State (NCAA Division I Quarterfinal; ESPN)

Saturday

Noon:

  •  Villanova @ Tarleton State (NCAA Division I Quarterfinal; ESPN)
  • South Carolina State vs. Prairie View A&M (Celebration Bowl @ Atlanta, GA; ABC)
  • Newberry @ Ferris State (NCAA Division II Semifinal; ESPN+)

3:00: Army vs. Navy (@Baltimore, MD; CBS): Navy should win a rare potentially pointsy Army-Navy game. So naturally Army will probably win 10-7 or something.

3:30:

  • South Dakota @ Montana (NCAA Division I Quarterfinal; ABC)
  • Harding @ Kutztown (NCAA Division II Semifinal; ESPN+)

5:00: Illinois State @ California-Davis (NCAA Division I Quarterfinal)

8:00: Boise State vs. Washington (LA Bowl @ Inglewood, CA; ABC): It’s the Chris Peterson game! This should be a solid match up, though Boise’s offense figures to have issues against UDub.
SP+ line: UDub by 10.6
Vegas line: UDub by 9.5
Watchability tier: III
Previous meetings: This is the sixth meeting between the teams. The first was a 24-10 Washington win in 2007. The last was a blowout by the Huskies 2 years ago.
Last bowl game: Boise State would have a 27 game streak dating to the 1999 Humanitarian Bowl, but skipped 2020 and the 2021 Arizona Bowl was canceled. They lost to Pennsylvania State 31-14 in last season’s Fiesta Bowl. The Huskies have a four game bowl streak, dating to the the 2022 Alamo Bowl, where they beat Texas 27-20. Last season they lost 35-34 to Louisville in the Sun Bowl.
Announcers: Dave Pasch, Dusty Dvoracek
